I am trying to compile GNU Emacs on a SPARC 1+ under SunOS 4.1. There is no problem with compilation and the software compiles without any error messages. When I install GNU Emacs and execute it, I get Abort (6) error, and the program dumps core. I noticed that by default the "sticky" bit is set on emacs, i.e., the protection mode is 'rwxr-xr-t'. Is that the way it is supposed to be? When I playing with file protection mode, at one point I was able to run the program properly (I don't know if I turned on setuid or setgid, or both), suggesting me to conclude that there is nothing wrong with the executable. Can any one tell me how Emacs should be installed in the bin directory (usually /usr/local/bin). The ones that I got from prep.ai.mit.edu does not seem to install right, or am I doing something wrong?
