These new groups are floating around out there. I don't recall any discussion about creating these. In particular, net.chess was aliased to net.games.chess months ago. And net.micro.zx and net.movies.sw were removed last summer because they were dead. 'net.chess' 'net.info-tenews' <- what is this? 'net.micro.zx' 'net.movies.sw' 'net.mail.msggroup' 'net.micro.432' These all came from decvax!wanginst!wang!root. What are these guys doing?

What are these guys doing? > Probably installing news. News 2.10.2 comes with this handy shell script that initializes all of your newsgroups. Unfortunately, it (1) initializes the newsgroups which came with your distribution, and if your sources are a year old... (2) it generates newgrp messages and uux's them out. Fortunately, when I installed news here, I caught these messages and killed them in the uucp directory. Maybe a future version of netnews will be easier to install without annoying people. -- John Woods, Charles River Data Systems, Framingham MA, (617) 626-1101 ...!decvax!frog!john, ...!mit-eddie!jfw, jfw%mit-ccc@MIT-XX.ARPA Out of my way, I'm a scientist!
