I am in the process of buying workstations. The main contenders are IBM RS6000 (model 320), DEC 5000 (model 200) and, as of tomorrow, the Sparcstation 2. According to my information, the IBM and DEC machines are fairly close, with the IBM machine having a bit of an edge in floating point performance. The glossies from SUN suggest that the Sparcstation 2 has about the same performance. Has anyone got some real benchmarks for these machines? I am particularly interested in floating point.
