We are starting to use MNP5 incoming modems to our data switch. The modems do baud rate conversion from 2400 to 9600 in order to make use of the MNP features. Since the Sun is sending at 9600 and the remote terminal is receiving at 2400 handshaking is necessary. We are using XON/XOFF. Basic text files can be displayed with no problem. The problem arises on file transfers with Kermit. Protocol no longer works. We have the most up-to-date Kermit on the Sun. The nn program also has problems and will lock up solid while reading news groups through our modems. Some people have complained that vi has locked up on them in a similar fashion while using it through a dial-in line. We have a MIPS computer with the same level of Kermit that works fine with our MNP modems. What would be the cause of the problem? Is it the SunOS? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We've been trying to find a solution to this problem for several weeks.
