[comp.sys.sun] C-Kermit 4E

iwamoto@gandalf.nosc.mil (Harvey A. Iwamoto) (11/27/90)

Description of problem:

1. Sun SparcStation 1+, SunOS 4.1, Serial Port A or B connected to a modem.
2. Connect and dial remote Unix 4.3 BSD host, specifying VT100 terminal.
3. Upon return and exit from Kermit, vi exhibits problems:
   a. Using 'j' to move down the file, when it is supposed to scroll up one
      line; about 10 lines appear at the top followed by about 20-23 blank
      lines. The current line appears at the bottom of the screen.
   b. Control-l redraws the screen correctly but the next 'j' produces the
      problem again.
4. Only hard power-down reboot will reset the screen parameters.
5. It seems as though some 'global' screen parameters are set (but not
   restored) by the remote host during login.
6. Have looked at the screen parameters with the 'eeprom' command:
   lines=34, columns=80, etc.  Looks okay.

If anyone has any suggestions, they will be gratefully accepted.
Thanks in advance.
