I have an old-style Sun 141 Meg shoebox that includes an Adaptec ACB4000 controller board and a Micropolis 1325 ST-506 disk. It works just fine and when I fire up format, I get prompted for it as a disk that I can format etc.. (Sun OS 4.1 on a 3/60) When I unhook the cables to the Micropolis and plug them into a Maxtor XT-1140 drive I got ahold of and reboot, format can't find the disk. This leads me to believe that the ACB4000 is having a hard time with the XT-1140. I have tried every drive select possible on the XT-1140. Question: Does anyone know if the ACB4000 can control the XT-1140? What are the jumper settings required on the XT-1140? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers from chilly Ottawa, ...Maarten (smeg@bnr.ca) ps. Xt-1140 format.dat entry would be also be handy if someone has it. //include1 pgm=disclaimer, parm='parm' Maarten Koning | UUCP: smeg@bigsur.UUCP | Phone: (613) 763-8796 BNR Ltd. | or: ..uunet!bnrgate!bigsur!smeg | FAX: (613) 763-2626

I have a (non-sun) machine with an ACB4000 running a Maxtor 1140, so they certainly are compatible.
