I am posting this for someone. Please reply to him directly. ------------------forwarded message--------------------- My system is running C2 security set up by the C2conv script provided by Sun. One of the things that C2conv does is to set up /etc/security/passwd.adjunct file. Now the problem is with the command "yppasswd". When I type "yppasswd" I get the following message: Can't find rpc.yppasswd server So I ran "/usr/etc/rpc.yppasswdd /etc/passwd" from root. Then I typed "yppasswd", I get the usual prompts for Old, New & Retype new password, and then it hangs for a while and complains that: yppasswd couldn't change entry (rpc call failed) The rpc.yppasswdd daemon dies after this and there is an extra file /etc/security/passwd.adjunct.ptmp (empty). Has anybody else encountered the same problem? Is it a part of the security feature not to allow yppasswd to run when system is in "C2 secure mode"? Any suggestions will be most appreciated. [System info: Sun4/110 Sun4/60 Sun4/20 all running SunOS 4.1. ypbind is run in secure mode (i.e. ypbind -s) by default by rc.local (when it sees /etc/security.)] Please email directly. Thanks in advance. Sincerely, Delman Lee. ........................................................................
