I apologize for possibly asking previously answered questions. I'm trying to compile X11R4 on a Sun 3 that is still running Sun OS 3.2. There is a bug in our Sun cc compiler when casting unsigneds to doubles which prevents the compile from finishing (this must be a known bug, but it doesn't bother us too often). So I grabbed gcc and tried using that (version 1.37). Now I'm getting a lot of error messages that say something like "invalid constraint in an asm" (this is a paraphrase, I deleted the log file.) from gcc. The only things I changed in the X sun.cf were the os major and minor numbers and setting HasGcc to YES (and the SaberC thing, whatever that is). Is there a problem with using gcc with OS 3.2 ? Do I need to delve more deeply into setting up either the gcc or X configuration files ? If it matters, I set up gcc without bison or gas. Rainer Malzbender "Ben, where are the hickory sticks?"
