The problem is that DOS Merge is doing a DOS-type lock which the rpc.lockd on your server cannot recognize. It requires a new version of rpc.lockd which (as has been stated) has been provided by IBM for AIX PS/2 and AIX 370 systems. For any other system, you are apparently out of luck.
