I'm trying to figure out how to add another drive to my system. I have an External Storage Module that has one 150Mb tape and one CDC Wren IV 327Mb drive in it. It's got a half-height slot that's screaming to me to be filled. And since my current space situation is rapidly dwindling, I decided to check out how much it'd cost to add a drive. I found a Seagate ST296N 28ms 84Mb SCSI drive for $330. But this little voice in the back of my head's saying "cables .. cables .. cables". So I decided to listen to it & check out the inside of my ESM. The cabling looks a little weird, but I figured out how it goes: SCSIport:--------drive--+ | SCSIport:--------tape===+ The hard drive's cable is "stacked" onto the tape's one at the tape, then one cable goes out from the tape drive to the bottom scsi port, which has the terminator on it. So, my question is, if I insert that other drive into the bottom half-height part of the ESM, how easy will it be for me to take the line going from the tape to the bottom scsi port, and instead bring it down to the 2nd disk drive, and have the 2nd disk drive's cable run to the bottom scsi port? e.g.: SCSIport:--------drive--+ | tape===+ | SCSIport:-------drive2==+ Is it simply a matter of getting another one of those "stack" things and another ribbon cable? Thanks .. please excuse my ignorance on alla this; I haven't played with the hardware much yet.
