I am running DOS Windows 1.0 under Sun OS 4.1 on several Sparcstation 1+'s. Whenever I try to print a fairly longish file (> 100 lines) by sending it to LPT1: it arrives at the print spooler with the first 10-40 lines missing. This is annoying in that the postscript interpreter misses the preamble and lots of postscript code spews out of the printer. The "decapitation" effect occurs whether I am using the DOS print command or printing through a program (Word Perfect, Quattro-Pro). I have redirected LPT1: in my setup.pcs to shell programs which write to a file in order to verify that in in fact the beginning of the printing stream is indeed being lost somewhere along the pipeline to the SUN. It seems to make no difference how long I wait to "pull right" on the SEND TO PRINTER MENU. I can demonstrate this effect repeatedly but it seems to only send an intact file through the pipe about 1 in 20 times. SUN support has never seen this bug elsewhere? Anyone have any similar experiences, hints, suggestions? Harry ("Allan") Kaplan [ EOS Open Systems ] Swap Specialist / System Ministrator
