I have two problems. First when I use to have a deskjet hooked up to our Sun. It printed fine from both DOS and Unix. I disconnected it a long time ago. Recently I have been getting the 386 back into shape and was connecting a Laserjet II to it. I managed to get one printing out of it accidentally from DOS but ever after, even after rebooting and reinstalling via SNAP the LJ on the serial port A, I have yet to get anything to print. When I do an lpq it shows some of the jobs. Usually the first one or two never make it to the queue. But it also shows that no daemon is present. Yet when I do a ps -ax I see lpd running. What's up? Second problem is that our clock seems to be running really fast. It gains an hour a week while the Sun is running and if it is turned off it gains an hour every other hour or so. Also, when booting it says that the clock could not be set and that I would have to set it. So I su and set via date but that still doesn't keep the clock from racing ahead after awhile. I thought that at one point the clock was only gaining when the Sun was off and since we have rebooted at least once a week, most of the gain could be from there, but I don't think so. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. You can't believe the effort I have to go through to print something. I have to ftp/mail stuff to one machine then dec copy it to our vax to print at present. What a pain.
