We have a number of the old Sun shoeboxes with 60MB cartridge tape drives (Archive & Wangtek) at customer sites in the field. We distribute software upgrades to our customers on cartridge tape. Occasionally, a tape drive in the field will become misaligned -- it will not read the distribution tapes manufactured on our primary server here in the lab. We assume this is a head alignment problem, the drive in the field can write and read its own tapes without problem. Normally, we simply replace the misaligned drive with a new Archive Scorpion drive purchased on the open market. We are now developing a collection of misaligned tape drives, and are looking for somebody to re-align them. Can anybody recommend a supplier of such a service? Also, can anybody comment on the reliability of the new, 150MB tape drives, vis-a-vis head alignment consistency. Thanks in advance, Steve Harris - Eaton Corp. - Beverly, MA - uunet!etnibsd!vsh
