After hearing the rumblings about Sun's CDROM strategy, I have got a new burn. We have the CDROM, and for installs its great, no questions. BUT I just tried to extract the Patch for C++ 2.0 needed for 4.1 and /usr/etc/extract_patch won't recognize sr0(the cdrom device). Looking at the script the switch only has three options, st0, mt0, and fd0. I haven't attempted to hack the script, I'll probably just hang the tape up tomorrow morning. If CDROM is going to be the media all the loose ends must be taken care of. Frank S. Heath heath@nbecc.nb.rok.com

RTFM - Section A.3 (page 101) of the SunOS 4.1 RTF tell you exactly what to do to get patches off the CD-ROM. Basically, you just mount the CD-ROM and cd to the patch directory. This is a lot faster and simpler than the tape method!

And here are a couple more to add to Suns list: 1. Support of Sun 4/2x0, 4/2x0, 3/x0 ... 2. Support for CDROM in add_client The CDROM certainly makes straight installs a lot easier. Sun just need to clean up a few loose ends.
