I've just started administering a Sun 4/280 file server, and I'm experiencing what people have said to be a persistent problem. The unit is a rack-mount system with what I believe is an ALM board (I haven't figured out the Sun codes yet) with 16 serial ports hooked to it (numbered 0-15, which corresponds to tty00-tty0e). Every so often, at no predictible interval, the board will hang and the terminals attached will be useless. Killing the getty and re-starting it has no effect; I have to reboot the machine to get things fixed. Any ideas? We're running SunOS 4.0.3. Thanks for any help.
