[comp.sys.sun] Shoebox termination

joe@sgi.com (Joe McGuckin) (01/21/91)

A while back I remember seeing a message or two about how to burn out a
shoebox power supply by powering the termination resistors. Could someone
please repost or send directly to me? Also - is there a difference
between Sun 3 and SS1 shoeboxes?

The sun 3/60 has pin 26 grounded which is the termination power pin. If
you hook a 3/60 up to a box that drives that pin you will blow the power
supply. As far as I know that is the only model that has this "feature".
AnDataCo has cables that are missing that pin.
