I'm having problems connecting a Sun 3/50 to thin ethernet. It keeps typing on the console the message: le0: no carrier - tranceiver cable problem? The back of the unit has two Ethernet connectors, a multiple pin connector for a thick ethernet tranceiver, and a BNC connector for thin ethernet. I'm connecting my thin ethernet cable to the BNC connector. There are only two nodes in the network (including the 3/50), I'm using 50 ohm terminators at both ends of the cable, and the cable is 50 ohms as well. It would seem that the 3/50 is confused about which ethernet connector it should be using. Do I have to throw a physical or software switch of some kind to tell it to use the thin net BNC? How does one do this? There is no switch aparent on the outside of the box. Is the ethernet interface on the board hosed? Juan juan@applelink.apple.com
