[comp.sys.sun] Can a SLC take a disk of 1.2G?

ajayshah@alhena.usc.edu (Ajay Shah) (04/17/91)

I'm planning on putting two of the Fujitsu 1.2G disks on the SCSI port of
a Sun SLC.

The trouble is: Sun says ``we won't sell disks > 1G for the SLC''. Why
would that be? Is there something about the SLC which makes it incapable
of dealing with disks > 1G?

That sounds rather prepostorous to me. As long as one is booting off the
same SunOS, there should be no such problems. But I'd like to be doubly
sure.

Thanks,

We did that for a while. It seemed to work fine. Only reason we
discontinued was that we had planned all along to use an IPC for that job,
and the IPC eventually arrived, so we gave back the SLC we had borrowed in
the interim.
