I've done an upgrade from 4.0 (with patches) to 4.1.1b on the 4/280 fileserver/gateway machine described in detail below. Before I did the upgrade, I was not having the problems I am currently seeing. Machine configuration: 4/280 fileserver with a GPIB board (currently not in kernel) and a second ethernet board. It has a xylogics 1/2" tape drive, a scsi tape drive, 2 hitachi DK-815's connected to a xylogics controller. It has 32Mb of memory. List of problems on forest since 4.1.1 upgrade: - I can't ftp files to or from the server and other machines whether they are on the same subnet or outside the subnet. Machines that are on the subnet behind the gateway can ftp files with machines outside the subnet. - Sometimes when I am logged in remotely from outside the subnet and I display a file with more, the process hangs. I have not had this occur to me when I am logged in the console on the server, only when I have done an rlogin. The current operating system is 4.1.1b and I have installed the following patches: -10075-06 lockd patch -100179-01 polling patch -100159-01 system hangs using sockets in local loopback tcp-ip patch -100126-05 MBUF running out of mbufs -100259-01 UFS patch -100178-03 inetd broken server detection patch I'm wondering if anyone else has seen these problems or if you have any suggestions.
