I am seeking the correct formatting numbers for a 239Mb Segate drive ST-1239NS (old anme 94351-230S Swift). Formated capacity should be 210Mb. The stat sheet I have on this disk says the following: cyl ...1268 heads ...9 disks ...5 sec ...36 But using this information the format utility always complains about "...Fatal non-media error (illegal request)", somewhere in cyl 1231! Now if I set up the format data so that I only have 1231 total cylinders all is fine... cept the disk only formats out at 186Mb. The great people at Segate don't know WHAT UNIS IS? "...ah I only know about formating these drives for DOS, we don't know about any other OS." Some help they were.
