Hello, This morning after months of successful use my Exabyte tape drive just 'took a dump' as we say. It kept giving me device not ready or offline? (Not exact text). Anyway I did a dd if=/dev/rst2 a few times on it to try and read the tape headers I have for my backup tapes and after several tries I received this in my console window. si0: si_cmd: no command phase si0: resetting scsi bus csr= 0x1407 bcr= 0 tcr= 0x0 cbsr= 0x40 (DATA OUT) cdr= 0x0 mr= 0x0 bsr= 0x18 target= 0, lun= 0 DMA addr= 0x0 count= 0 (0) cdb= 0 0 0 0 0 0 last phase= 0x81 (Arbitration) last phase= 0x8c (Cmd complete MSG) 0 last phase= 0xc (STATUS) 2 last phase= 0x8 (COMMAND) 0 0 last phase= 0x81 (Arbitration) last phase= 0x8c (Cmd complete MSG) 0 last phase= 0xc (STATUS) 0 last phase= 0x4 (DATA IN) 16 Guess what after it reset now it works. Anyone have any idea why this is. | () () () | Frank P.
