Hello -- I was recently approached by the Sun User's Group (SUG) -- they wanted to include COPS (a security tool I assembled/wrote) on a CD-rom that they were planning on creating. Now, I'm all for user's groups and stuff, and I want to see my stuff go out to as many people as possible, but also for as little as possible (preferably free.) I asked them, and they said that they were going to sell this CD for $250. I have no idea if this is standard for these kinds of things, but that seems *very* high (they won't even give me a complementary copy -- not that I have a CD player anyway, but it's the principle :-)). Could anyone tell me what is the general consensus of SUG? Are they a "good" organization? Are they for profit, do they mostly just try to help people, or what? Anyone got any suggestions on what I should do? (I know the net is full of people who try to do this all the time anyway, so I'm sure that I'll get lots of response on this...) Heck, they could have probably just slapped my stuff on the CD and I'd have never said a word, since cops is free anyway, but since they asked me to sign a legal disclaimer, now I'm interested in this. Thanks -- -- dan p.s. If you're interested in cops, you can get it via anon-ftp at cert.sei.cmu.edu, ~ftp/pub/cops/1.02. All for the price of an ftp connection.
