Following weirdness just hit me. Playing with the password file, created a userid, then ypmake passwd, all is AOK, then remove user from passwd file, re-make passwd and .... ypmatch user passwd still finds the user, ypcat passwd | grep user ... does NOT find user. This holds true for the NIS server and a slave server, and a pure client. All are running 4.1, the NIS server is a 4/330, the client/slave are SUN 3's. Under most circumstances this would not be much of a problem, depending upon how long it persists (20 mins so far), but it makes what I'm doing a real problem. Thanks in advance for any help. I have a tapehost system that is usualy a Y.P. client. It has it's own / and /usr partitions. If the Y.P. master's disk is corrupted I have to be able to use a rrestore utility. What is the procedure to make ypclient become indepent of Y.P. Master? Eugene Rikel. rutgers!clara!eugene AGFA-Matrix Div. 1 Ramland rd. Orangeburg N.Y. 10962 (914) 265-0190 x8587 Thank you.
