[comp.sys.sun] Sun's Transport Independent RPC

naresh@touch.com (Naresh Kumar) (06/05/91)

The following questions are related to Sun's latest public domain release of
RPC called TI-RPC:

1) In the RPCGEN man pages there is mention of "-N" flag which would allow
C-type argument passing and multiple argument passing capabilities for remote
call definitions. The RPCGEN programming guide does not describe this feature,
its syntax or semantics.

Is there any nformation about this feature as well as any other new features
in this latest RPCGEN ?

2) Has anybody ported the TI-RPC library over to AT&T UNIX System V. Is such
a version available anyhere? Especially has anybody done it for Interactive
386/ix?. I would be very interested in knowing the issues one had to deal
with.

3) What would it take to port TI-RPC over to (a) non-SUN OS platform and (b)
non-UNIX-like platforms (e-g) DOS or OS/2 assuming one has an XTI interface?

Thanks,
