I'm having some trouble getting consistent results when trying to get a modem off a Sun 3/80 (as well as one off of a 3/260) to be used for dial-in. Here's the poop: Sun 3/80, modem on /dev/ttya, ttytab entry sez: ttya "/usr/etc/getty d19200" dialin on remote and gettytab sez: # Put :ms=crtscts,-ixon,-ixoff for binary xfr and emacs 12/28/90 tom d19200|Dial-19200:\ :ms=crtscts,-ixon,-ixoff:nx=d1200:fd#1:sp#19200: The modem is a Microcom AX/9600 Plus (MNP Class 6). Symptoms are that garbage greets the person calling in, but not every time. I also have a 3/260 with a Multitech V32 modem on /dev/ttya, and I rebuilt the kernel to allow for this. It worked for awhile, but on occasion I get receive and transmit lights on the modem flashing continuously, apparently forever ('til I reset the modem). ttytab: ttya "/usr/etc/getty d9600" dialin on secure gettytab file isn't clear to me (I don't have a d9600 entry--is this a prlblem?). I would also like to do this on a SPARCstation at some point. I guess what I would *really* like is a one-page summary on how to do this, in general. The manuals seem to be antiquated in this particular area... If you can email me your replies, I'll post a summary which will hopefully be what I wanted in the first place. Thanks in advance!
