From: Christopher A Kent <cak@purdue.ARPA> The official contact for RCS is the author, Walter Tichy, wft@purdue or decvax!pur-ee!purdue!wft. I don't know anything about Softool. I'm not sure that Walter is currently handling binary licenses; you'd have to ask him. Cheers, Chris Kent

#R:sri-arpa:-441100:inmet:10300006:000:577 inmet!nrh Aug 24 13:54:00 1983 Lauren, The official contact for RCS was (when we got it) Walter Tichy Department of Computer Science Purdue University West Lafayette, IN 47907 It was free to anyone who signed their non-disclosure agreement, including profit-making organizations such as our own. You do have to give credit to Purdue where appropriate, and you can't market any part of RCS further. We got it about 6 months ago. I haven't heard anything about it since, so I doubt much has changed. I also understand that will be on the 4.2 BSD tape as contributed software.

From: Lauren Weinstein <vortex!lauren@lbl-csam> Greetings. Does anybody out there know anything about a source control system from a company called "Softool"? They claim it is much better than RCS (and they charge over $10K for it as well). Any information would be appreciated. On the subject of RCS, who is the official contact for ordering a copy? (Also, how much does it cost for a commercial site with a binary Unix license (for 4.1 or 4.2 bsd)?) Thanks much. --Lauren--
