I have a small problem, that maybe someone can help me with: I am working on a Sparcstation 1 (SUN 4/60) under SUN-OS 4.1 with 40 MBytes of memory installed. Swapspace is configured to 50 MB. When executing a large FORTRAN program with a Blank Common of 20 MB, the program seems to get no more then about 10 percent of memory (see below). I am the only user on the computer, but the performance is really bad. USER PID %CPU %MEM SZ RSS TT STAT START TIME COMMAND xxxx 7712 38.3 6.6 22624 2596 p1 R 10:45 21:15 ./freq2.out xxxx 7911 8.3 0.7 168 264 p2 R 12:26 0:00 ps -u xxxx 7593 0.4 0.5 240 188 p2 S 10:03 1:07 cmdtool xxxx 7707 0.0 0.0 80 0 p1 IW 10:44 0:00 /bin/csh permex freq2 - xxxx 7574 0.0 0.0 100 0 co IW 10:02 0:00 sunview xxxx 7582 0.0 0.0 148 0 p1 IW 10:02 0:26 cmdtool -Wp 0 71 -WP 772 xxxx 7703 0.0 0.0 80 0 p1 IW 10:44 0:00 /bin/csh permas freq2 -e xxxx 7576 0.0 0.0 136 0 p0 IW 10:02 0:00 cmdtool -Wp 0 0 -WP 0 0 xxxx 7594 0.0 0.0 80 0 p2 S 10:03 0:01 -bin/csh (csh) xxxx 7583 0.0 0.0 92 0 p1 IW 10:02 0:01 -bin/csh (csh) xxxx 7577 0.0 0.0 80 0 p0 IW 10:02 0:00 -bin/csh (csh) For explanation: PID 7703 executes 7707 which runs 7712. What can I do to use more of the 40 MB memory for my program ?
