A friend of mine has a Mac II, IBM 386 compatible, and a SPARCstation 2 that he wants to connect up to an Apple Laserwriter IINTX. He wants to do it within a reasonable price range (less than $500). What we finally decided to do is to use a plain switch box, however distasteful that may seem, to connect the three machines to the printer. The Mac and the IBM are relatively easy to connect up compared to the SPARC. We have been told that we will need a postscript translation program (Trascript was suggested) and a serial cable. Does anyone out there have experience connecting similar machines to the Laserwriter IINTX? Or even any experience connecting just a SPARC? Are there any software solutions which won't require a switch box buy yet be relatively cheap? We would appreciate hints, suggestions, or comments. Thanx a whole bunch in advance. 8-) PLEASE SEND REPLY'S TO AMY@CCWF.CC.UTEXAS.EDU ----- /> ( //------------------------------------------------( (*)OXOXOXOXO(*>=M=O=N=G=O=O=S=E-------- \ ( \\--------------------------------------------------) \> -- Abdul Malik Yoosufani amy@ccwf.cc.utexas.edu Computer Engineering amalik@utxvm.cc.utexas.edu University of Texas at Austin mongoose@aeroel.ae.utexas.edu
