Not long ago, I had a phone company person out to install a second phone line in my apartment. He had some difficulty finding the correct terminal pair in the apartment's telephone closet, so he put his test set on each pair he suspected was the right one, dialed a number (I tried to look over his shoulder, but I couldn't quite see :-) ), and a synthesized voice would tell him the phone number of the line he was on. Does anyone know if this capability is common to all CO's (I'd never seen it before)? --Pat.
