[author asked "why not effectively get an unlisted number by listing an alias"?] In most cities your address is put on the operator's VDT when you call 911. This is a useful feature when you're incoherent, provided they have the right address. Even if you're incoherent I suspect that you whould have a problem getting an ambulance dispatched to address A when the system insists you're calling from B. Even if THAT obsticle is overcome the automatic equipment that tells the driver how to get there from the dispatch point will not help. Doesn't seem like a good idea. -dk
