[comp.dcom.telecom] welcome to comp.dcom.telecom

telecom-request@vector.uucp (USENET Telecom Moderator) (07/31/88)

Welcome to comp.dcom.telecom! After a bit of an absence, we are back.

    The comp.dcom.telecom Gateway
    === ================= =======

As before, comp.dcom.telecom, contains messages from the internet TELECOM
mailing list. Due to popular demand, comp.dcom.telecom articles will appear
as individual messages rather than a digest format. Every message gatewayed
from the mailing list will contain a header line similar to:

    X-TELECOM-Digest: volume 8, issue 110, message 1

At this time, comp.dcom.telecom contains only messages from the TELECOM
mailing list (identified by the above header) and ramblings from the USENET
moderator. The USENET moderator is open to the idea of messages with a
USENET-only distribution.

    How do I get a Message into comp.dcom.telecom?
    === == = === = ======= ==== ==================

Since comp.dcom.telecom contains messages from the TELECOM mailing list,
you must submit your message to the mailing list. Submissions for the
mailing list moderator should go to:

    telecom@xx.lcs.mit.edu

If your message is accepted, it will be published in the TELECOM digest.
The digest will be received by the USENET coordinator, broken back down
to the individual messages and posted to comp.dcom.telecom.

You can reach the USENET moderator at:

    telecom-request@vector.uucp

As a side issue, the USENET gateway is not supported by the TELECOM
mailing list administrator. The USENET moderator (me!) has tried to
contact the TELECOM administrator a couple of times with no luck.
I'd appreciate any help you can give me getting through to him.

    What About the Stuff I've Missed?
    ==== ===== === ===== ==== =======

Have no fear, telecom junkies. I've archived the last couple of weeks
of TELECOM digests, and I will be posting these over the next week or two.
The current backlog is as follows:

    vol 8 issue 110	Mon, July 11	5 messages	11300 bytes
    vol 8 issue 111	Sat, July 16	9 messages	14320 bytes
    vol 8 issue 112	Sun, July 17	4 messages	11905 bytes
    vol 8 issue 113	Thu, July 21	7 messages	11201 bytes
    vol 8 issue 114	Tue, July 26	5 messages	 5846 bytes
    vol 8 issue 115	Fri, July 29	8 messages 	11508 bytes
    vol 8 issue 116	Fri, July 29	<will not be posted>
    vol 8 issue 117	Fri, July 29	8 messages 	17387 bytes
							===========
							83467 bytes

Issue 116 will not be posted because it is merely a redistribution of the
"Hacking the CO" messages from the RISKS digest (available in comp.risks).
