I hate to burst your death star, but there are approximately 30 different 800 carriers that are assigned 800 prefixes. Each carrier that requested was assigned their own 800 prefix(es). That is only an interim soultion until a national 800 database is created, then the 800 numbers will be used by the particular interexchange carrier on a first come/first serve basis. If you have 800 service with AT&T, then real soon, you could switch over to MCI, Sprint, et al, without switching the 800 number at all!! Right now, you have to change your 800 # to switch 800 carriers.
