[net.unix-wizards] Query on Newcastle Distributed File System

rbk@sequel.UUCP (09/19/83)

I recently saw a reference in net.unix-wizards about a fully
distributed file-system, reportedly better than SUN's 4.2 approach,
done at Newcastle... This was said to be done without any kernel
modifications. This sounded interesting, and I was wondering if anyone
out there has any further information/pointers/literature/etc on this?
Thanks in advance for any such information.

Look in the December 1982 issue of Software--Practice and Experience,
for an article by Brownbridge, Marshall, and Randell entitled:
"The Newcastle Connection, or, UNIXes of the World Unite".
(pages 1147-1162).
