If people are so sure that 1+number is going away, can they explain how Step switches will handle that? I believe that the 355A Step machines in Central and Western Mass aren't being replaced anytime soon, so this is a real question. We just had an area code split here 617/508, so I'll bet 1+number will go away in 617 but that's because all the switches are electronic (or crossbar).
