Could someone describe to me what exactly an ISDN connection will get for me? I have a sort of fuzzy notion as to what it provides, but I'd like some more info. For instance, what would it take to get for two ISDN subscribers in the same region to get the moral equivalent of - a long, dedicated serial cable strung between them? - a switchbox with several serial cables coming off of it? - an interface suitable for plugging into an IP router? - an ethernet bridge? in terms of equipment, cost, ease of setup & the like.
