Things have been a little rocky with the comp.dcom.telecom gateway the past few weeks. Just wanted to take a moment to tell you what's going on. First, there were some mail routing problems when the [TELECOM Digest] moved from bu-cs to eecs. It took a while for Patrick to find a good path to me, and this now appears resolved. Also, uucp tends to get a little uppity around here from time to time. An upgrade from crufty, old V7-based uucp to HDB uucp is planned within the next two weeks, which should help a lot of this. A couple of other things are happening locally which should help speed the gateway, but I won't bore you with the details. Please be assured that comp.dcom.telecom readers are not missing any messages. These problems have introduced delays, but hopefully they will now be eliminated. On another topic, I've put together a "Welcome to comp.dcom.telecom" message. I thought it might be useful to explain to new subscribers how this newsgroup works. Unless folks think this is a waste of bandwidth, I will post it monthly.
