[comp.dcom.telecom] Tariffs

I've seen lots of discussion of LD charges (especially the dreaded AOS's),
but no side-by-side comparison of AT&T, Sprint, MCI, and maybe 1 or two minor
companies. I'd like to see a chart like:

Air miles ATT Sprint MCI XYZ

0-99 .11 .11 .12 .??

and so on,
and a similar comparison of Credit card, Operator Assist, 800-credit-card,
et cetera, surcharges. Also, are casual calls (10xxx + 10 digits) more
expensive than if you had selected the carrier as your 1+ default? I think this
may vary, I've heard different answers.

When you directly phone the companies to get the info
you a) get a lot of obfuscation, info doled out with tweezers and b) waste
HUGE amounts of time. I recall there was some 'public interest' (hah) outfit
in Wash DC which sells a list like this for a few bux. Any idea who this is?

[Moderator's Note: Maybe one of our regular readers here will make up
such a chart. I'll be glad to give it a special place in the archives if they
do, and announce it/distribute it to the general Usenet reader, crediting
of course the information compiler. How about it folks? PT]
