Bell Canada is planning to offer CLASS services throughout Canada within the next 5 years. Ottawa will be first to get CLASS, including the CallerID function, in May of 1990. Montreal gets it in February of 1991, followed by the rest of the country. A few differences between the US RBOCs and Bell Canada: Bell Canada will lease a phone with the display feature built in, rather than make it's users buy a separate unit. (Presumably subscribers will have the option of buying a box officially or unofficialy - I can't see the interface being unique to Bell Canada). No objections have been raised by Canadian civil rights groups to the CallerID feature. The consensus being that the rights of the called party are as important as those of the calling party. Bell Canada will not enable selective blocking of the CallerID feature. Ken Jongsma ken@cup.portal.com
