This has nothing directly to do with tcp-ip, but I know a lot of time freaks hang out here. If you care about keeping accurate time, in particular the history of said endevour, you will probably want to get your hands on the following interesting little book I found in the library today: %T Sky With Ocean Joined: Proceedings of the Sesquicentennial Symposia of the U.S. Naval Observatory, December 5 and 8, 1980. %E Steven J. Dick %E LeRoy E. Doggett %I U.S. Naval Observatory %C Washington, D.C. %D 1983 No, they don't discuss NTP, but they do talk about earlier ventures in that direction such as Western Union clocks (discussed at length in TELECOM Digest in the past) and time balls, as well as more modern devices such as atomic clocks.
