[comp.dcom.telecom] Looking For Tie Line Adapter

macy@hal.cwru.edu (12/19/89)

I'm looking for a tie line adapter card/unit.

It's normal application would to add two way dial repeating tie lines
(probably two wire E&M or loop signalling) to a system not normally
able to provide such a function.

The most desirable configuration would be to accept one loop|ground
start trunk (for outgoing) and one station (for incoming) from the
host system and provide a standard tie trunk function interface:

                      +--------------+
     Station <--------|              |
                      |   Adapter    |<--------> 2W E&M to carrier
     Trunk   -------->|              |
                      +--------------+
                              ^
                              |
                            Power

I saw a unit advertised for this purpose several years ago (for a
Mitel SX-20, I think) but did not remember who made it. I don't find
this in any of the usual catalogs/source, either.

I could design and build one easily enough, but I have learned from
hard experience over the years that off-the-shelf is usually a better
choice.

Thanks in advance to all. Regards,
