Regarding the message someone posted about the "beep" heard before the operator comes on the line when you dial 0, 00, or calling card calls, my experience has been that they have NOT gone away, at least for AT&T operators. My recent experience is for calls from the Seattle, Sacramento, and Oakland areas. Calls to the local operators do not seem to do this.
