We have a VAX 11/780 which we are running 4.1 BSD on. We seem to be having a problem with our TE16 tape drive which we believe may be software related. The console prints numerous hard errors when we read or write to the drive. An example is shown below: tu0: hard error bn9534 mbsr=13080<ATTN,DTCMP,DTABT,MBEXC> er=100000<CORCRC> \ ds=50760<ERR,MOL,DPR,SSC,PES,SDWN> The reason I believe that it is software (possible the ht driver) is that we just upgraded a second 780 from 4.0 to 4.1 (no comments please, it was managements fault, not mine) and the problem suddenly appeared on that system too. It is not the tape since any tape we use (new or old) does this. We have had DEC look at both drives and they can't seem to find any hardware problem. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what the problem or solution may be. Thanks. Jim Roche Computer Consoles Inc. seismo!rochester!ritcv!ccieng5!jjr
