One of our faculty here in New York wants to communicate with his deaf parents in New Zealand. They have some sort of modem-and-TTY device, but we are unsure how to connect to it with the equipment we have here. Obviously, it would require an international phone call. I know that a similar service exists in the US (TDD, I think they call it) but I don't know much about it. Are the modems used compatable with any of the common data modems (v.22/bis, 212A, or 103J)? Is the system used in NZ the same as the system used in the USA?
