Regarding SS#7 from PBX'es to CO's, you can even go one step further. It is possible to use an ISDN D channel to do call setup for your analog trunks and DS1 trunks as well as the B channels. See the ISDN product description in the Meridian I documentation (NTP 553-2901-100), ISDN Signalling Link.
