David Zinkin had inquired about CNA numbers, including the ones for 216 and 716 area codes. Our Moderator correctly explained just what a CNA Bureau is and basically how it works. I will reiterate what Pat said, however, regarding some of the numbers being confidential. Almost all the CNA Bureaus' phone numbers are, in fact, restricted, including the ones for 716 and 216. These numbers require the use of an authorization code -- codes which have increasingly been changed more frequently due to fraud. I regret, therefore, that I cannot furnish such information. Replying to me directly will not help, either. What I will do, though, if Pat likes the idea, is publish a list in a few days of the area codes which have such publicly accessible CNA numbers, obtainable by asking directory assistance. That is about as much as I am allowed to do. Randy Borow Rolling Meadows, IL. [Moderator's Note: Yes please. Why don't you prepare something listing ALL area codes (so there is no question it was overlooked) and list what numbers you can for each. List both the Bells and the Independents when possible in each area. (Where Bell does not handle CNA for them.) Show 'not available' where appropriate. I'll put it in a file in the archives and run it as a special reference article here. I know this will be a bit of a project for you, so thanks in advance from all of us! PAT]
