From: Dale Neiburg Organization: National Public Radio Date: 20 Feb 1991 Another telecommunications tidbit as reported by the WASHINGTON POST of 13 Feb 1991: "A 911 operator earned nearly $100,000 to become the highest-paid city employee in Portland, Oregon, last year because the city's emergency system has chronic staffing problems. The operator, whom the city declined to identify, routinely worked 90-hour weeks."
