According to a proxy statement dated March 1, 1991, American Information Technologies Corporation is seeking shareholder approval of a "Proposal to Amend the Certificate of Incorporation to Change the Corporate Name" to Ameritech Corporation. In recommending shareholder approval, the Board of Directors cites the contrast between the widespread recognition of its informal trade name Ameritech, a contraction of its formal, and the lesser degree of recognition for its longer, formal name, American Information Technologies.
