In watching the news the past week, I realized that two of my friends lived in the same apartment building as Sacramento's recently-arrested "Thrill Killer". They moved a couple of months ago (the killings were in February). In speaking with them, it turns out that they got a call from a reporter with the {San Francisco Chronicle}. They had no idea how they had been tracked down. I asked them if they had had their telephone service listed at their old address, and if there was a referral from that number to their current number. Yes on both counts was the answer. They were surprised when I told them that some people had directories ordered by address. They didn't have a phit about their privacy, though. :-) Steve Forrette, forrette@cory.berkeley.edu
