Has anyone out there written a comparison of the execution environment of a Lisp machine (typified by Symbolics) to that of, say, a UNIX system? I understand the UNIX model fairly well and am learning Symbolics Genera 7, but there are some fundamental differences with UNIX, such as: -- all processes on a Lisp machine run in the SAME virtual address space; -- the flavors/objects style of programming (versus multiple processes). Is there a paper or notes that list all the main differences? That would help me to more quickly form the correct mental model. -- Dan Dvorak UUCP: {harvard,ihnp4}!ut-sally!dvorak (512) 472-6671 ARPA: dvorak@im4u.utexas.edu
