[comp.unix] ISO 8859 vs. T.61

campbell@maynard.BSW.COM (Larry Campbell) (06/14/88)

ISO 8859 is fine, but CCITT (in particular, X.400) specifies another
international character set called T.61. In fact, the ISO 8859/1 standard
(the only one I have a copy of) explicitly notes that it can _not_ be used
in the context of CCITT-compliant telematic services.

Arrgh!

Standards are wonderful -- there are so many to choose from!
